Fans of the romance anime My Happy Marriage finally have some concrete details about season 2. Netflix made a big announcement on September 22, 2024, including the first trailer for the new season and a release date timeline.
My Happy Marriage Premieres in January 2025
In the first trailer for the second season, Netflix announced that My Happy Marriage will return in January 2025. So it’s only a few months away, and gives all of us anime viewers something to look forward to once the holidays are over.
The trailer also has some great hints about what to expect in the new season. As the season begins, Miyo is more familiar with her Dream-sight ability — a power that she only became aware of near the end of season 1.
In the new season, she’ll be visiting Kiyoka Kudo’s parents after his dad makes an unexpected visit inviting them to the family villa. So it looks like we’ll get a more in-depth look into Kudo’s background.
But it seems like things with Kiyoka’s mom will get off to a rough start, when her first impression is to refer to Miyo as a “scruffy-looking girl.” She wants Miyo to make herself useful, which is something Miyo is happy to do. It seems she doesn’t take offense to their rough start.
Miyo also talks about wanting to fulfill a duty only she can do (likely referring to her dream-sight) and that she’s willing to do this even if it risks her own life, if it’s something that will help Kudo.
It also looks like Miyo might be meeting her biological father, and it appears that Arata will be in season 2 also, as he appears in a scene from the trailer.
My Happy Marriage Is Based on a Popular Light Novel Series
The anime is based on a popular light novel series that has sold more than 9 million copies.
Comfy Cozy readers will definitely love this anime, and I highly suggest watching season 1 on Netflix if you haven’t already. The first season has a lot of high stakes moments, and a good dose of a magical storyline. But the love story between Kudo and Miyo is what really steals the show. Miyo comes from a very abusive background, and Kudo’s patience and love helps her realize her worth. It’s a journey of seeing her slowly gain more self confidence and begin to come into her own, which is a delight to watch.
As someone who loved the first season, I have to admit that I’m really excited about season 2 and can’t wait to watch it!
I haven’t read the light novels yet myself, but you can get them on Amazon here (this is an affiliate link that supports our site.) There are eight books in the light novel series by Akumi Agitogi.
