Whether it’s your first time watching a K-Drama or you are a veteran, this new series on Netflix is going to check all of your boxes. Let’s take a look at why you should schedule a night of couch time to watch Netflix’s Bon Appétit, Your Majesty.
The South Korean Fantasy Series You’ve Been Looking For
Some shows you stream because they’re popular or widely shared on TikTok, and other shows you hit play because you’re in the mood for something a little more decadent, softer, and richer. The new series Bon Appétit, Your Majesty is a perfect fit for the second group!
The show centers on Yeon Ji-yeong (Im Yoon-ah), a contemporary chef who, following her victory in the greatest Parisian cooking competition, is inexplicably transported from 2025 to the Joseon dynasty during a solar eclipse. There, Ji-yeong finds herself in the perilous realm of palace politics, where her ability to cook becomes her only source of support. King Lee Yi Heon (Lee Chae-Min), a young king infamous for his despotism and troubled by the death of his mother, is impressed by her. Rather than being forever perceived as the suspicious outsider, Ji-yeong is chosen to be the king’s royal chef, and from there needs to decide if she should stay in the past or go back to her regular life. How exactly? Well, that’s for everyone to find out!
A true romance of creative energies coming together, sprinkled with a pinch of comedy, the series Bon Appétit, Your Majesty is directed by Jang Tae-yoo (Knight Flower), whose vision envelops every scene in longing and grace.
The story itself is based on Park Kook-jae’s well-known web novel, Surviving as Yeonsan-gun’s Chef, which is filled with food, fantasy, and all the delicate elements that ignite romance for centuries.

When does Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Air?
