K-drama can be quite compelling to Hallmark viewers. Both genres share touching romances where you’re really rooting for the couple to find love despite all the obstacles that may come between them. We asked several different AIs to weigh in on which K-drama shows they would recommend to Hallmark viewers. Check out their responses.

Bing’s GPT-4 AI Recommended 3 K-Dramas

First, we started with Bing’s GPT-4 AI, since it’s connected to the Internet and doesn’t have the September 2021 date restriction that Open AI’s Chat GPT-4 has. The AI started out by noting that it was recommending “heartwarming stories, relatable characters, and a focus on every day life.”

Extraordinary Attorney Woo

First on the list was “Extraordinary Attorney Woo.” Bing explained that the story is about an autistic savant with a passion for law, and it explores relationships that evolve at a prestigious Seoul law firm.

Netflix’s official description reads: “Brilliant attorney Woo Young-woo tackles challenges in the courtroom and beyond as a newbie at a top law firm and a woman on the autism spectrum.”

This series has one season on Netflix and was released in 2022. The second season is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2024.

The Glory

Second on Bing’s list is “The Glory,” which is a series about a poor student bullied in high school, who creates a “psychologically complex plan for vengeance.”

This has one season that’s also available on Netflix, but it has a maturity rating of TV-MA, which makes me a little unsure if Bing’s assessment was right. I’ll have to check it out though!

Twenty Five Twenty One

Third in Bing’s suggestion list is “Twenty Five Twenty One,” which is about teens dealing with love amidst wealth disparities. It’s about an aspiring fencing champion and another teen whose family fortune changed overnight.

This series is also available on Netflix.

Chat GPT-4 Recommended 10 K-Dramas

Meanwhile, Chat GPT-4 sent me a list of 10 K-Dramas that will likely appeal to Hallmark fans. It’s worth keeping in mind that Chat-GPT on Open AI is limited to accessing data through September 2021, so the newer K-Dramas recommended by Bing’s AI won’t be on the list. Here are the recommendations, along with Chat GPT’s reasoning for each.

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo

“This is a light-hearted romantic comedy about a young female weightlifter who falls in love for the first time. It touches on themes of friendship, youth, and following one’s passion.”

This is a 2016 drama that can be watched on Viki.

When the Camellia Blooms

“This series revolves around a single mom who runs a bar and finds herself in a love triangle while also dealing with a mysterious admirer. The show perfectly blends romance, humor, and mystery.”

This is a 2019 drama with one season, available on Netflix. It sounds like a lot of fun, based on the description.

Reply 1988

“Part of the Reply series, this drama focuses on five friends and their families living in the same neighborhood in 1988. It’s a nostalgic trip with loads of humor, love, and touching family moments.”

This is a 2015 drama available on Netflix and Viki.

Touch Your Heart

“A romantic comedy where a top actress goes undercover to work as a secretary for a cold-hearted lawyer to prepare for a role. It’s a heartwarming story about second chances in love and career.”

This is a 2019 romcom available on Viki. The description intrigues me and really sounds quite Hallmark-like.

Shopping King Louis

“A romantic comedy about a wealthy heir with amnesia who learns about life, love, and friendship when he meets a kind-hearted woman in the city.”

This is a 2016 drama available on Amazon Prime, and it sounds like a lot of Hallmark movies I’ve watched, so I can definitely see checking this one out!

My ID is Gangnam Beauty

“A drama that delves into the issues of beauty standards and self-worth after the main character undergoes plastic surgery.”

This is a 2018 drama available on Netflix.

Her Private Life

“A romantic comedy about a dedicated art gallery curator with a secret: she’s a die-hard fan of a K-pop idol. Things get complicated when her new boss starts digging into her private life.”

This is a 2019 drama available on Netflix.

Twenty Again

“A story about a 38-year-old mother who joins college after putting her life on hold for her family. It’s a heartwarming tale of second chances, growth, and self-discovery.”

This is a 2015 drama also known as “Second 20s.” It’s on Pluto, Tubi, and Amazon Prime.

Still 17 (Thirty But Seventeen)

“A touching drama about a 17-year-old girl who wakes up from a 13-year coma and has to navigate life as a 30-year-old with the mind of a teenager.”

This is a 2018 romcom that you can catch on Viki.

A Gentleman’s Dignity

“This series revolves around the lives of four men in their forties as they navigate love, friendship, and career.”

This is a 2012 drama that aired for one season. You can watch it on Viki or Amazon Prime.

Google Bard Had 5 Recommendations

Interestingly, the Google Bard AI came up with five different recommendations from the other two AIs.

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha

This one is from 2021. Bard notes that it “follows the story of a dentist from Seoul who moves to a small seaside village and falls for a local handyman. The show is full of heartwarming moments, stunning scenery, and a charming cast.”

Watch it on Netflix.

Romance is a Bonus Book

This one’s from 2019. Bard writes: “This heartwarming drama follows the story of a former copywriter who struggles to find a new job after being laid off. She eventually gets a job as a housekeeper for her former boss, who is now a successful publisher. The show is full of heartwarming moments, sweet romance, and a supportive cast.”

Watch it on Netflix.

Crash Landing on You

This one’s from 2019-2020. Some of my friends have recommended this one too, and I’m surprised Bard is the first to suggest it. So far I’ve seen the first episode and it was really enjoyable.

Bard writes: “This romantic comedy-drama follows the story of a South Korean heiress who accidentally crash-lands in North Korea and falls for a North Korean soldier. The show is full of heartwarming moments, hilarious hijinks, and a forbidden romance.”

Hometown

This one’s from 2021. Bard notes: “This mystery-romance drama follows the story of a police detective who returns to his hometown to investigate a series of murders. He soon finds himself entangled in a love triangle with two childhood friends. The show is full of heartwarming moments, suspenseful twists, and a beautiful love story.”

Because This Is My First Life

This one’s from 2017. Bard shares: “This romantic comedy-drama follows the story of a young man and woman who decide to get married in a contract marriage arrangement. The show is full of heartwarming moments, realistic relationship struggles, and a sweet romance.”
